Title: Supporting Communities Through Welfare Rights
Speaker: Stephen Hodgson
Role: Senior Welfare Rights Officer
Expertise/ Specialism: I have over 35 years of experience in the field of Welfare Rights. My career began in the voluntary sector in 1990, and I joined Hull City Council in 1998. Throughout this time, I’ve gained extensive experience across all levels of Welfare Rights work.
Talk topic overview: This session will highlight the importance of timely benefit advice and demonstrate how welfare rights services can assist individuals in accessing the benefits they are entitled to.
Why professionals should tune in: With over three decades of hands-on experience in Welfare Rights, I bring a deep, practical understanding of the benefits system—how it works in theory, and more importantly, how it works in real life. I’ve worked across all levels, from grassroots voluntary support to management roles within local government. I will demonstrate the usefulness of timely benefit advice and how our service can help.
