“Sunset Poetry for the Wild”
Overview
Experience a memorable evening at “Sunset Poetry for the Wild,” a poetic journey with a commanding view of the mountains, glowing with warm candlelight and accompanied by live classical music. This uplifting event will fuse the power of words, the beauty of nature, and the magic of music in a charming evening.
Join us for the Colorado Premiere of this unique six-month performance series, proudly benefiting the Science for Colorado Wildlife nonprofit organization, founded by Melinda Marquis, Ph.D., and Clint Talbott.
As the sun sets over the peaks, allow poetry, music, and the natural world to guide you toward deeper inspiration, harmony, and purpose. Together, we celebrate art, balance, and a shared commitment to living with greater respect for the wild spaces around us.
Be part of a night that elevates the spirit and supports a meaningful cause.
What to Expect
Upon arrival, guests will be warmly welcomed by host Caroline Laporte and guest artist, Jeffrey Milburn of the Omni Art Center - www.JeffreyMilburn.com - and invited to enjoy hors d’oeuvres and refreshments in an intimate, candlelit mountain setting.
The evening begins with an introduction to Melinda Marquis, co-founder of Science for Colorado Wildlife, followed by a presentation of the mission and purpose behind this inspiring new organization.
You will then meet our featured musician- and learn about the composer and musical pieces selected for the night. A live solo classical performance will set the tone for the poetry program.
Next, the authors and background of the selected poems will be introduced, including:
- “The Tyger” by William Blake
- “The Darkling Thrush” by Thomas Hardy
- “Children of the Universe” by John Denver and Joe Henry
Each poem will be read aloud, accompanied by live background music , creating a powerful and immersive artistic experience.
Following the readings, guests are invited to join a Q&A and open conversation about the poems, their themes, and their interpretations.
The evening concludes with a warm social gathering and reflective time—an opportunity to connect, share impressions, and enjoy the magic of the mountain sunset.
Registration is donation-based, and 100% of proceeds support Science for Colorado Wildlife.
Together, let’s honor nature, support wildlife conservation, and uplift our collective spirit through art and community.
