Frequently asked questions

I've never been to a Wild Women event. Can I attend?

Of course! In the summertime, Wild Women will be offering camping trips and other overnight excursions. These day hikes are a great way to check out the community without committing to a whole night with us! ;-)

How long are the hikes?

Hikes will vary each month, but in general, they will be anywhere between 4-6 miles, which is considered moderate in the hiking world.

How will I know when and where to meet?

After you RSVP, and about a week before the hike, you will be receive an email from the organizer which will include an exact meeting location. Hikes begin at 10am.

Who is welcome to attend?

Yeesh, I'm getting Marsha Blackburn vibes here. Look, we aren't here to define the word woman, but we do understand how women have been historically excluded from wilderness culture & made to feel like the outdoors isn't *for* us. We are here to show that women are capable and we like to get dirty.

Can I bring my dog?

Different parks and wilderness areas have different rules about whether or not they allow dogs. For the most part, many wilderness areas do not allow pets, but please check with the specific park website to help answer this question.

What are the ages of women who attend?

Wild Women prides itself in harboring an intergenerational model of community development. We welcome anyone between the ages of 18 - 80. As long and you can keep up and finish the hike, we welcome you. (P.s. check out Grandma Gatewood for seasoned wilderness women inspo).
