Sun, Sand, and Sugar Cookies (Beginner Level Decorating Class)

Grab your sunnies and your sweet tooth—it's time to kick off summer with cookies!

Join us on Sunday, June 8 from 1–2:30 p.m. at Caboose Commons for Sun, Sand, and Sugar Cookies, a fun and beginner-friendly cookie decorating class that brings all the beach vibes—no sunscreen required.

You'll decorate six summer-themed cookies shaped like sunglasses, a beach umbrella, a bathing suit, seashell, wave, and sandal using four vibrant colors of royal icing. Whether you're brand new to cookie decorating or just looking to try something fun with friends, we’ve got you covered with step-by-step guidance, helpful tips, and everything you need included.

Please note, this class will be held on Caboose Commons' 3rd floor, which is not wheelchair accessible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are kids welcome? - Yes! In fact, there's a good chance my kids will be there. Due to space limitations we do ask that anyone over the age of 5 have their own ticket. Additionally, VA law requires that anyone under 18 be accompanied by an adult, since alcohol is produced onsite.

Allergens - Common allergens that are in the cookies and icing include wheat, eggs, and milk. Gluten-free cookies are available (see the option below) but please keep in mind that I do not operate a gluten-free kitchen. Cookies do not include nut or nut oils. Sugarcoated is SafeServ certified for food safety and inspected by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. We follow all best practices for food safety and allergen control.

Cancellation policy - everything is made (and bought and ordered and printed and packaged) just for you! As a result, cancellations must be received by Sunday, June 1 for a full refund. Between June 2 & 3 , a partial refund of $20 will be issued. There are no refunds for cancellations after June 3. The good news is that you still get the cookie kit and class materials! We'll work together to schedule pickup at my home in Annandale, 22003 or the bakery in Del Ray Alexandria by June 12.
