Summer Songwriting Workshops with Trace Mountains

This is a 3 month songwriting intensive for writers of all skill levels. Anyone can find value in this course, which is based around weekly writing prompts, conversations & critiques. No prior songwriting experience is needed, although basic experience with at least one musical instrument, and a willingness to sing & record demos will be necessary. Knowledge of 3-4 chords on the guitar or piano is perfect! Some of the greatest pop songs ever written, are so because of their simplicity. :)

Each meeting, the group will be assigned a songwriting prompt that they will be expected to complete for the following meeting. The goal of the class is to jump headfirst into the songwriting process and inspire a new work for each meeting, leaving behind judgement & making room for creativity. Participants can expect to write a new song for each meeting, walking away from the 3 month workshop having begun writing 5 new songs. Please be ready to write music & lyrics, share your work & discuss the work of others! Class size will be limited to 5 people & each meeting will last approximately 1.5-2 hours. Our introductory meeting will be a bit on the shorter side, lasting about an hour.

Meetings will be held twice a month, virtually on Zoom.

Workshops will meet at the following times...

Group 1 meets Sundays at 2PM ET (June 15, June 29, July 13, July 27, Aug 10, Aug 24)

For Group 1, the coursework will be from my original songwriting workshop. The creative prompts and class format are the same.

Group 2 (Workshop Part 2! Reserved for past attendees of my workshop) meets Sundays at 5PM ET (June 15, June 29, July 13, July 27, Aug 10, Aug 24)

For Group 2, I will be developing new coursework for repeat workshop attendees. The class format will be the same, but with different exercises and writing prompts!
