This bootcamp is intended for those individuals who want to get started with programming for data science.  This can materialize in a number of different ways.

Yes.  Participants can be as young as high achieving high schoolers who have never programmed before.

What are the benefits of completing this bootcamp compared to a traditional data science degree?

This bootcamp is helpful for people who want to gain a broad and quick overview of many different aspects of data science.  It would be helpful as an additional credential for non-data science majors (i.e., Economics,  Psychology, Environmental Science, etc.) to help provide additional skill sets.

Do I need any prior coding experience?

No.  However, basic computer skills (i.e., navigating a computer, downloading software, saving files, using a file manager, etc.) are required.

What are the prerequisites for the bootcamp?

High school algebra and basic computer skills.  You must be able to meet via Google Meet and be comfortable navigating the interface.

No.  There is no homework.

No.  There are no required assignments.  However, if you want to receive a certificate of completion, you must then perform the mid and final projects.

How much emphasis is placed on working on real-world data science projects?

Students will work on 2 projects for the course.  The students will use data of their choosing and provide insights based on the topics covered in the course.

What if I want a certificate of completion?

A certificate of completion can be provided upon request given that the participant meets certain requirements. Details on these requirements can be provided upon request.

Can I sign up for an individual week/topic?

Yes.  A limited amount of spots are available for weekly participants.  (They will not have the option to do the projects nor receive a certificate of completion.)

Why is the content broken up into weeks?  I thought this course was on your own pace?

The content is broken up into weeks to help the participants pace themselves.  It also sets the expectation of what should be presented in the mid-course project.  For example, Python is covered after the mid-course project.  Thus, it would not be expected to be used in the mid-course project.

Why does the agenda have times?  I thought this course was on-your own pace?

The agenda is a suggestion for how to structure and organize your time.  It is not required that you watch the videos only during that window.
