Overview

Panel explores suicide risks, prevention trends, and peer support lessons from military to aid stressed workers and veterans.

Although there is a growing awareness related to military suicide implications, WoA is seeing an increased level of suicidal ideation among federal employees who are struggling with terminations, layoffs, and a stringent hiring market. Suicide is the 4th leading cause of death among working aged adults so how can we do a better job with interventions and support for veterans and other employees dealing with a mental health crisis. This panel will discuss suicide risks and innovative trends in suicide prevention and intervention strategies. We are learning lessons for peer support, reporting and research from the military population that has broader implications for those struggling with stress and difficult times.
