David Butow is an award winning, freelance photojournalist whose pictures have appeared in National Geographic, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, on the covers of TIME and Newsweek, and in many books and magazines worldwide.
He began working professionally in the 1980s and has traveled to over two dozen countries to photograph social issues and news events such as the Los Angeles riots in 1992, the Palestinian/Israeli Intifada in 2000, the U.S. invasion of Iraq, the Asian tsunami of 2004, and the Hong Kong democracy protests of 2019. His work on U.S. politics beginning in 2016 and culminating at the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the Capitol resulted in the monograph "BRINK", published by Punctum Press of Rome.
