Studio Portraits: RGB + 3-Light Setup, Posing & Styling

By Offshoot Studios

Overview

Photography workshop at Offshoot exploring how to capture portraits in a studio setting covering continuous light, posing and styling

This workshop covers capturing portraits in a studio with continuous light, adding RGB lights to portraits, and then covers not only posing your subject but also styling them. Offshoot includes continuous lights with both their studios, and offers RGB light add-ons. Continuous light setups work well for both photography and videography.

The first half of the workshop will teach you to set up and use a 3-light continuous lighting system, as well as adding RGB lights into the mix to result in more creative headshots and full-body portraits. We’ll go through a few different setups, discuss how to get better portraits, and some tips and tricks when taking studio portraits.

The second half of the workshop will teach you more advanced posing techniques as well as styling your subject. We’ll cover everything from how to direct your subject, to what poses are most flattering and what to look for when styling your subject.

What will be covered?

  • Using a 3-light continuous lighting setup in a studio
  • RGB lights
  • Backdrop setup
