Strong U.S. Diplomacy in a Changing World

By St. Petersburg World Affairs Council

Overview

In a shifting geopolitical landscape, the U.S. needs trained, professional diplomats representing and promoting American interests abroad.

John Dinkelman, President of the American Foreign Service Association (AFSA), spent 37 years as an American diplomat, serving overseas in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and East Asia. As AFSA President, he represents more than 16,700 active duty and retired members of the Foreign Service from six Federal foreign affairs agencies. He will share insights into the important, nonpartisan work done at home and abroad on behalf the American people by our skilled professional diplomats and development officers.
