About this event
Build the strength of a warrior and the calmness of a monk.
Join us this Fall for Strength in Stillness, one of Kommunity’s most loved weekend intensives — a space to reconnect with your body through movement rooted in rhythm, resilience, and rest.
Kalaripayattu, often called the mother of martial arts, originated in South India over 3,000 years ago. Known for its flowing sequences, animal-inspired postures, and deep connection to the elements, Kalari is a holistic practice that strengthens both body and mind while cultivating agility, awareness, and grace.
Led by Swati Prasad Pyda, movement artist and founder of Kommunity, this two-day immersion draws from Kalaripayattu and integrates Swati’s background in classical dance, somatics, and movement anatomy. The practice is designed to awaken mobility in the hips and spine, enhance postural awareness, and build grounded strength — all while cultivating stillness of the mind.
Through intentional movement, guided breathwork, and rhythmic sequencing, participants will experience how ancient embodied wisdom meets modern-day movement science.
