Stories in Metal - Forging Connections with Lisa Gillett
Overview
Join Lisa Gillett of Jewelry Uplift in this thoughtful workshop where we will peel back layers of time and life experiences revealing treasured gems and precious memories that we will then transform into wearable art through the expansive craft of riveting and metalwork.
We will introduce you to multiple jewelry techniques, as you develop foundational metalworking skills including riveting, sawing, soldering, and texture creation. You'll learn to incorporate personal artifacts—family photographs, sentimental objects, ephemera and marginalia—into durable metal settings that preserve and honor their significance.
The hands-on workshop includes safety protocols for torch work, proper use of anvils and hammers, and finishing techniques. This workshop is also about forging connections with the community. We are excited to share and make new friends!
