Join us for an evening of stories and music to celebrate the launch of WINTER SKY, a beautifully written collection of short stories set in wintertime, exploring the complexities of the holiday season.
From celebrated filmmaker, actor, and novelist Shelley Thompson comes a collection of stories, both cherished and fresh as new-fallen snow. A blend of historical and contemporary, written in breathtaking prose, the stories in Winter Sky reflect the season’s contrasts: the light and the dark, the complexity and the comfort.
Shelley and the Blue Engine String Quartet love to find time every year - over the festive season and beyond - to share movies for the mind stunningly scored by composer Chris Palmer.
Shelley Thompson, (actor/writer-director/ author) is best known to NS audiences as Barb Lahey in Trailer Park Boys, but most recently as the author of her award-nominated first novel ROAR. She's also writer-director of the series TRANSLATIONS, and the Masterworks award-winning feature film DAWN, HER DAD, & THE TRACTOR.
The Blue Engine String Quartet (Jennifer Jones - violin, Anne Simons - violin, Hilary Brown - cello and Alexandra Bates - viola) all find their time full, working with Symphony NS, and on their many and various side projects, both with the Quartet and individually.
Attendees of the event will receive 20% off the purchase of Winter Sky.
