Stories Begin Here

Date: Friday, November 28, 2025

Time: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Location: The Society Clubhouse, Toronto

Event Overview:

Hearth is delighted to partner with the Canadian Children’s Literacy Foundation (CCLF) for Stories Begin Here — a gathering that celebrates the power of early language, connection, and the small moments that shape lifelong learning.

This event invites mothers and caregivers to explore how stories — spoken, read, and lived — help children build confidence, curiosity, and emotional understanding. Together, we’ll reflect on how the words we share each day create the foundation for empathy, imagination, and resilience in early childhood.

What to Expect:

🌿 Opening words with Camille Côté

Led by Camille Côté, child and youth mental health advocate and founder of Hearth, this session will explore the link between language, attachment, and emotional development — offering simple, heart-centered ways to nurture connection through everyday communication.

📚 In Conversation with the Canadian Children’s Literacy Foundation

Guests from CCLF will share evidence-based insights and accessible strategies to help parents and caregivers spark literacy-rich moments at home — from reading aloud to encouraging storytelling in play.

💬 Community Connection & Discussion

A warm and welcoming circle to share experiences, ask questions, and celebrate the meaningful role caregivers play in shaping children’s love for words and stories.

☕ Refreshments & Gathering Time

Enjoy time to unwind and connect over light refreshments, surrounded by a community that values care, curiosity, and conversation.

Why It Matters:

The stories we tell and the words we choose have lasting power. Stories Begin Here highlights how nurturing language in early childhood is not only a foundation for literacy but also for emotional well-being and secure relationships.

Together, Hearth and CCLF invite you to pause, connect, and celebrate the beauty of where stories — and growth — begin.
