About this event
"The only constant in life is change." — Heraclitus
In this season of transition, the changes in nature are splendidly evident all around us. As the Sun begins to wane, a noticeable chill in the air begins to creep into our bones. Leaves fall from the trees, birdsong has gone all but silent, animals move their slumber underground, and we acknowledge Nature's cycles. All things must change in order to grow, and death is an integral part of the cycle of life, nourishing the earth with the process of decay.
The dark, watery depths of Scorpio Season mark the threshold.
"As Above, So Below"- while the natural world prepares to turn inward for winter's rest, our human forms echo the sentiment, with renewed awareness of our own depths and darkness. All of the emotions we work so hard to hide escape like bubbles through hot lava. Newfound clarity comes from examining and re-examining the things floating to the surface. Thoughts of ancestors, of our own mortality and that of our loved ones allows us to better live life to the fullest NOW.
What changes must you embrace to prepare yourself for the coming darkness? What offerings have your ancestors given you to fortify your strength, to get you through the dark times ahead? How can we find stability in our community, together?
These themes intensify during Scorpio Season, and for October's Circle, I'd like to honor our ancestors, loved ones, and guides that exist beyond the veil by setting up a small altar for them. If you feel called, please bring a small token of remembrance or favorite physical offerings to place on the altar- (think fruit, chocolate, beer, tobacco, incense, teas, treats, any indulgences your loved ones loved in life). Once everything is arranged, we'll start the circle with a small ritual to invite, welcome, and thank the spirits for their continued guidance.
***Also- have a Samhain costume? Feel free to wear it to our circle to add to the festivities!
Scorpionic symbols to embrace: the scorpion with its hard exterior and soft interior, the snake as a symbol of shedding old skins for renewing growth and transformation, and the eagle as the enlightened, highest version of scorpio- seeing every thing from above with a bird's eye view.
Here's how it works:
Each month will have a different theme, based on the above astrological weather.
Come to circle prepared to share something with the group- it can be anything- a poem you wrote, piece of artwork, a craft, baked treats, homemade incense, oracle cards, a meditation, a dream, a story, psychic synchronicities, dance, movement, breathwork, teas, tinctures, wear a costume- literally ANYTHING that your heart wants to express, related to the Astro weather. Then, you vulnerably share this in our circle. Everyone gets a chance to contribute their own "ingredient," so each circle will be different, every circle will be fun!
(**Note, we are not making literal soup. Usually. :))
We know- it's incredibly scary to put yourself out there and share part of your innermost self. The high sensations that come with showing up this way are part of the medicine- part of the magick we will create together! This is how you manifest your desires. Face your fears, and do it anyway!
(Disclaimer: We understand that you may not be ready/able to prepare and share EVERY circle. Sometimes it's appropriate to show up and say "All I have to contribute today is my presence and my witnessing." But still show up! If it becomes a habit and people are consistently showing up without contributing, admins will gently reach out with encouragement to participate greater.)
Schedule:
5:30- 5:45pm: Greetings, social time, altar set-up, grab a coffee or treat, head downstairs.
