Words of Hope from Dr. Richard Bedlack
Dr. Bedlack reminds us: "I am careful about the words I choose."
- Instead of "Prepare for the worst news. You need to get your life in order.", he reminds us to "Hope for the best. You need to live and define more of your life."
- Instead of "You have 2-3 years to live.", he says "1/3 of patients can be disabling and have more whole years to live."
- "This disease can be a nonfatal disease. 10% of patients live 10 years or more."
Through his hopeful language and groundbreaking approach, Dr. Bedlack invites us to reimagine what’s possible for those living with ALS.
