Let's raise our collective awareness to support survivors and end gendered violence!

Incorporated in 1978, HopeWorks of Howard County is a private nonprofit agency. Our mission is to support and advocate for people in Howard County affected by sexual and intimate partner violence and to engage the community in creating the change required for violence prevention.

HopeWorks’ services include crisis shelter, clinical counseling, advocacy, legal resources, survivor wellbeing, wellness and support programs, prevention education for adults and youth, training for professionals, community self-care & social justice programs and volunteer opportunities.

Community members, volunteer applicants, parents and partners are invited to join us for this interactive in-person workshop focused on understanding the root causes of violence and ways we can work together to prevent it. This workshop includes:

  • an overview of domestic violence
  • an overview of teen dating violence
  • an overview of sexual violence
  • an exploration of the root causes of violence
  • an introduction to HopeWorks’ services and programs
  • information on volunteering opportunities

This free training is required for volunteer candidates and open to the public. Preregistration is required. There is a 30-minute lunch break. A refrigerator and microwave are available.
