About this event

The STEM Workshop formerly known as the Maker Workshop) is a program (Ages: 8 - 12) where Library patrons can gather to create and invent, tinker and explore, and discover new things using a variety of equipment and craft materials. The program mainly focuses on STEM/STEAM activities, often with crafty elements. What is STEM/STEAM? Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics!

Upcoming themes include:

June (13th & 27th) (Summer Skies & SolarDyes II!) We will be doing some learnings on the spectrum of light and will be dyeing materials with custom photos & designs using SolarDyes!

July (11th & 25th) (Boats Will Sway; Anchors Aweigh!) We will learn about buoyancy, and will not only make boats using improvised materials, but will also be putting our designs to the test!

August (8th & 22nd) (Castle Assault with Catapults!) We will doing some light teachings on gravity, make our own improvised catapults, and compete against one another!

Participation in our STEM Workshop is intended for ages 8 and older, and it involves certain inherent risks associated with using chemicals, tools, and products used for learning and exploring STEAM topics. While we prioritize safety through proper supervision and instruction, there is a risk of injury or damage to personal property. By purchasing a ticket and participating in the STEM Workshop, you acknowledge and agree that you will adhere to all safety guidelines and are responsible for properly and safely using any equipment, tools, or materials provided during the event. In the event of accidental damage or breakage due to negligence, you may be asked to replace the item. Participants must adhere to all safety guidelines, wear appropriate protective gear when necessary, and exercise caution when handling tools and materials. Failure to do so may result in being barred from current and future programs. Parental or guardian supervision is required for participants under ten years of age or minors without an ID. Your safety is our priority, and we are committed to providing a secure and educational environment.
