The STEM Workshop formerly known as the Maker Workshop) is a program (Ages: 8 - 12) where Library patrons can gather to create and invent, tinker and explore, and discover new things using a variety of equipment and craft materials. The program mainly focuses on STEM/STEAM activities, often with crafty elements. What is STEM/STEAM? Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics!

October (10th and 24th) (Light in the Darkness!) We will be doing some light (pun intended!) teachings on UV light, bioluminescent, and fluorescent, and we will be making our own glow-in-the-dark lava lamps!

November (14th) & December (12th) (Freeze and Degrees!) We will be doing teachings on temperature, why seasons occur, and we will be conducting activities with ice!

Participation in our STEM Workshop is intended for ages 8 and older, and it involves certain inherent risks associated with using chemicals, tools, and products used for learning and exploring STEAM topics. While we prioritize safety through proper supervision and instruction, there is a risk of injury or damage to personal property. By purchasing a ticket and participating in the STEM Workshop, you acknowledge and agree that you will adhere to all safety guidelines and are responsible for properly and safely using any equipment, tools, or materials provided during the event. In the event of accidental damage or breakage due to negligence, you may be asked to replace the item. Participants must adhere to all safety guidelines, wear appropriate protective gear when necessary, and exercise caution when handling tools and materials. Failure to do so may result in being barred from current and future programs. Parental or guardian supervision is required for participants under ten years of age or minors without an ID. Your safety is our priority, and we are committed to providing a secure and educational environment.

Effective July 2025, we will be asking parents/guardians & their children if they can sign a Photo Release Form and the Minor Photo Release Form on the backside, giving consent to MCCS staff to record photos & videos of all parties for marketing purposes. Currently, photos & videos taken are for internal-library use. Please let us know if you would prefer for yourself and/or your children to stay clear of the cameras!
