Dr. Jason Gross is chair and professor in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering at the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University.

Specializing in robotic systems and unmanned aerial systems, Gross's research emphasizes perception and localization regarding robot location and environment. He directs the WVU Navigation Lab, coordinates WVU’s growing robotics program, and led WVU’s Space Robotics Challenge 2 team.

Gross earned dual bachelor's degrees in mechanical and aerospace engineering and a doctorate degree in aerospace engineering, all from West Virginia University.

The STEM Speaker Series began in 2014 with a goal of communicating science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) research to all West Virginians. This event is hosted by STaR Division: Science, Technology & Research at the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission in partnership with WVSU Space Club and Girl Scouts of Black Diamond.

The event is supported by the National Science Foundation under Award No. OIA 2242771 and is free to registered guests.
