Are you ready to "Start Simple with MyPlate" and take control of your health? Join the N.C. Cooperative Extension team for an educational session that goes beyond the basics of the USDA MyPlate guide.
The nutrition portion of the class, presented by Family & Consumer Science Agent Marlana Baker, will focus on providing a clear, actionable understanding of the MyPlate model and practical steps for its application in daily eating.
Following the nutrition portion, Digital Skills Agent, Danny Ferreira will show you how to leverage powerful, free digital platforms and mobile apps to personalize your nutrition, track your progress, and make healthier eating a practical part of your daily life.
This class will equip you with the knowledge and tech-savvy skills to:
- 🍎 Understand MyPlate: Review the five food groups—Fruits, Vegetables, Grains, Protein Foods, and Dairy—and learn how to balance your plate for optimal nutrition.
- 📲 Master Digital Tools: Discover and get hands-on experience with official USDA MyPlate resources, including:
- The Start Simple with MyPlate App to set small, achievable goals, track progress, and earn motivation badges.
- The Shop Simple with MyPlate Tool to find savings and discover new, budget-friendly recipes in your area.
- MyPlate Kitchen for healthy recipe inspiration, videos, and meal planning resources.
