Course Description:

Clinicians need to be educated on the current trends and techniques related to examining the athlete for balance control and reaction time to avoid injury.

At the conclusion of this course, participants will have the ability to define the purpose, goals, and outcomes of balance and reaction program developed by the STARS Sports Program team members.

Learning Objectives:

Describe the functional anatomy of the ankle complex as it relates to lateral ankle instability and to describe the pathomechanics and pathophysiology of acute lateral ankle sprains and chronic ankle instability.
Determine the need for a balance and reaction program
Evaluate the components of a rehabilitation program designed to address dynamic ankle instability in a healthy athletic population.
Define the effect reaction has on injury prevention
Identify how the program can be used for injury prevention
Analyze peer reviewed journals supporting the program
