About the Show:
Tucked behind a vintage phone booth inside one of Austin’s most iconic venues, this bi-monthly stand-up comedy night brings you sharp punchlines, strong drinks, and even stronger talent. Hosted by Austin-based comedian Destiny Lalane (@destinylalane), the show features a rotating lineup of some of the funniest comics in the city — from up-and-coming voices to seasoned headliners.
Whether you’re on a date, out with friends, or just need to laugh off the week, this 90-minute showcase delivers comedy with flavor.
The Venue:
Busy Signal at the Historic Victory Grill
Located on East 11th Street, Busy Signal is housed inside the Victory Grill, a legendary stop on the Chitlin’ Circuit of Austin that once hosted icons like Billie Holiday, James Brown, and B.B. King. Originally founded in 1945 as a safe space for Black soldiers returning from WWII, Victory Grill became a cultural cornerstone for live music, good food, and community.
Now revived as a speakeasy-style restaurant and bar, Busy Signal carries that rich history forward — blending timeless soul with modern flavor. It's a space where Black history, local artistry, and East Austin’s creative spirit meet.
