Ready to take the stage and share your unique sense of humor? Laughs Comedy Club is excited to offer beginner stand-up comedy classes designed to help you write, polish, and perform your very first set!

Our Dynamic 5-Week Beginner's Class

Join our creative, fun, and motivating 5-week beginner's class, focused on the essentials of writing and performing stand-up comedy. This course is perfect for new or aspiring comedians looking for expert guidance and a supportive environment.

  • What you'll learn: This comprehensive class dives deep into the art of stand-up. You'll explore joke structure and writing techniques, learning how to craft compelling premises, punchlines, and tags. We'll focus on performance skills, including stage presence, mic technique, and how to connect with your audience. You'll develop your likability and embark on the exciting journey of finding your authentic comedic voice. Expect to build confidence on stage through consistent practice and supportive feedback. The class will guide you in writing and rehearsing a polished 5-minute stand-up set.
  • Personalized Coaching: On Week 3 of the class, you'll receive an invaluable in-person coaching session with Andrew Frank and constructive feedback from co-owner Angela Dennison, providing direct insights to hone your craft.
  • Your Graduation: The class culminates in a graduating showcase performance where you'll present your honed 5-minute set. Plus, you'll receive a digital video of your performance!
  • Cost: Only $182 for the 5 classes and the graduation performance.
  • Who can join: Everyone over the age of 18 is welcome!

Session Options:

  • Tuesdays: Starting September 16th, choose from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM or 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM. Graduation shows will be held on October 15th and 16th.

Meet Your Instructor: Andrew Frank

Your classes will be led by Andrew Frank, a Seattle-based comedian with an impressive touring history spanning 285 cities and 11 countries. Andrew's cerebral and imaginative style is rooted in his love for language, philosophy, sociology, biology, psychology, anthropology, and cosmology, all on full display when he takes the stage.

Andrew has studied Satire, Screenwriting, and Talk Show Writing at Second City in Chicago. He has also lectured on Comedy Writing and Performing at McKendree University and taught an aspiring comedians' course in Munich, Germany.

His accolades include:

  • Semifinalist in the 40th Annual Seattle International Comedy Competition
  • Winner of the 2019 Laugh Off at Laughs Comedy Club-Seattle
  • Winner of Go Bananas Comedy Club's Funniest in Cincinnati 2016
  • Runner-up of Trial by Laughter 2015

Andrew has performed in numerous festivals, including Laughing Devil Festival (NYC), Cape Fear Comedy Festival, Cleveland Comedy Festival, Vancouver Fringe Festival, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, among many others. He was recently named one of the "Best Undiscovered Comedians in America" by Thrillist Magazine and has toured extensively in Europe. Throughout his 13 years of performing, he's worked with comedic greats like Anthony Jeselnik, Nate Bargatze, Bobcat Goldthwait, and Kevin Nealon. You can watch his first independently filmed hour special, Macrocosm, for free on YouTube, and his second hour Andrew Frank: Cognitive Goof, was performed for all 25 days of the 2019 & 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
