Stand Up Comedy Class!

By Cozy Comedy

Overview

Learn from the best minds in standup comedy as we bring headliners to give you writing and performing pointers.

Have you always wanted to learn stand-up comedy but don’t know where to start?

We are here to help with Cozy Comedy’s Standup Class!

We will not only teach you everything you’ll need to know to get started in one month, but you’ll be more than a year ahead of anybody starting out on their own.

Why?

We are bringing a unique opportunity to learn from some of the best comedians in the Pacific Northwest as well as Cozy Comedy’s owners, Travis Sherer and Marcus Moreno. We will teach you the business of standup comedy, joke writing, stage presence/performance, and finding your voice.

The class will consist of 4 classroom sessions at Seattle Central Community College, and one classroom graduation show at the prestigious Unexpected Productions Theatre in downtown Seattle!

A little about each of your teachers:

Susan Rice:

For over 42 years, Susan Rice has been making people laugh.

Before discovering stand-up, Rice spent nine years training and performing as a professional actress. She stepped onto her first comedy stage in March 1983—and by 1986, she was living in Los Angeles, working at some of the most well-known comedy clubs across the country.

As she aged out of the comedy clubs, Rice found a new rhythm performing at charity fundraisers, corporate events, and community shows. During the pandemic, she helped bring laughter back to her local neighborhood by producing the St. Johns Comedy Festival in North Portland in both 2021 and 2022—giving talented local comics a stage after more than a year of shutdown.

In 2023, a submission to Don’t Tell Comedy led to an invitation to Los Angeles to record a 10-minute set for their massively popular YouTube channel. The set premiered on March 11, 2024, and quickly went viral—racking up views and earning Susan an invitation to perform for the celebrity judges on America’s Got Talent (AGT).

Later that year, she filmed her first-ever comedy special, “Silver Alert,” produced by Super Nice Guy Productions and distributed by Comedy Dynamics.

Susan never expected this late-career resurgence—but she’s thrilled to still be doing what she loves: making people laugh.

Monica Nevi:

Monica Nevi is regularly touring nationally and internationally and can be seen performing in clubs, colleges, and theaters across the country. The Seattle-based comedian's debut special “Big Stepdad Energy” (Helium Studios) released in October 2022, and was immediately voted top 50 specials of the year by We Own The Laughs magazine.

She has appeared on FOX’s nationally syndicated TV show ‘Laughs’ and ESPN’s Sports Center, as well as Seattle based television programs ‘New Day Northwest’ and ‘[the 206]’ Monica released her documentary series ’80 For 80′ on Amazon Prime Video this year where she hosts and interviews hilarious short episodes with people over the age of 80. It is available now on YouTube.

She debuted two albums in late 2020 within one month of each other. Her first standup album, Mostly Finger Guns followed by her debut comedic guided meditation Chill. Both went #1 on the comedy charts.

Andrew Frank:

Andrew Frank is a comedian based out of Seattle. He started writing and performing stand up at the age of 14 and has relentlessly toured the United States, Canada, Scotland, France, Germany, Austria, Vienna, Czech Republic, Bratislava, and Estonia over the course of his career.

He was named one of the “Best Undiscovered Comedians in America” by Thrillist Magazine, and has just recently completed a 25 show run of his hour entitled Andrew Frank: Cognitive Goof at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Timothy Kelleher:

Tim Kelleher has been writing and performing comedy for more than two decades. In the middle of a burgeoning comedy career, he took time off to write for television. He made a career out of it, becoming a regular writer on “In Living Color” and “Two And A Half Men.” He’s written for movies that have starred Robert De Niro, Sylvester Stallone, Kevin Hart, Sinbad and more!
