Stages Presents: Simon Mulligan
Overview
Kick off your holiday season in elegant style with a piano concert by renowned British pianist Simon Mulligan. A featured Steinway artist, Mulligan has been described by The Times of London as "the most abundantly gifted of pianists." He has performed for the likes of President Barack Obama and Her Majesty the Queen and enjoyed collaborations with such artists as Joshua Bell, Liza Minnelli, Van Morrison and Sting.
Described as "brilliant, suave and so charmingly British," Simon Mulligan holds the Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Music and is Artist-in Residence at the University of Maryland. He has performed with major orchestras across Europe, Asia, and America — (including the Royal Philharmonic, Detroit Symphony, and Hong Kong Philharmonic) and has performed nearly sixty concertos, collaborating with conductors including Slatkin, Boughton, Atherton, and Serebrier.
Mulligan’s artistry bridges the classical canon and contemporary innovation, having also premiered works by Henze, MacMillan, Moravec, Picker, Turnage & Weissenberg - demonstrating his serious commitment to supporting living composers.
A rare pianist equally fluent in Beethoven, Henze, and Hancock, you don't want to miss this rare opportunity to experience Mulligan's technical mastery and powerful pedigree on display live in an intimate 60-seat, acoustically exceptional performance hall.
