Stability Through Strategy: Using AI to Plan in Turbulent Times

Stability Through Strategy: Using AI to Plan in Turbulent Times

By Chester County United Way

Overview

An in-person workshop led by Aaron Proietti and Kelly Cockshaw

Across the nonprofit sector, you’re making tough decisions in an environment that feels increasingly unpredictable. As promised funds vanish, budgets tighten, and needs continue to rise, your teams are being asked to sustain critical work under extraordinary pressure.

This workshop offers a steady, strategic pause. Together, we’ll explore how you can use generative AI to think more clearly, plan more confidently, and lead more calmly when so much feels out of your control. Through hands-on exercises and real nonprofit examples, you’ll learn to use AI not as a flashy innovation, but as a practical tool for clarity, communication, and focus.

You’ll discover how to:

✅ Use AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude to strengthen scenario and contingency planning
✅ Apply the Virtual Advisory Board method to gather stakeholder input and test strategic ideas
✅ Create steady, consistent communications for boards, funders, and staff amid uncertainty
✅ Develop adaptive strategies that balance short-term challenges with long-term vision
✅ Reclaim time and mental energy for thoughtful leadership

For returning participants:
If you’ve joined our previous AI workshops, welcome back! This session takes the conversation to a deeper, more strategic level. You’ll focus on how to use AI to think and plan differently — to bring steadiness, clarity, and confidence to your decision-making.

  • While beginners are welcome, a basic understanding of AI tools is helpful.
  • This workshop will be in-person and hands-on. You will have the best experience by bringing a laptop and having a ChatGPT account (free version will suffice).
  • Space is limited, and we are only accepting individuals from nonprofit organizations and their board members.
