About this event

  • Event lasts 7 days 3 hours

Chapter events are smaller SFA surf events that are run by local volunteers committed to the organization and providing services in their community. Event will run May thru September on the 2nd and 3rd Saturday of each month. When you register to participate or volunteer, you will be registering for both Saturday events that month. Each Saturday will consist of Two 45-minute Surf Sessions, one from 9 AM to 9:45 AM and one from 10 AM to 10:45 AM. Participants will either register to surf in either Session #1 or Session #2 for that month. Volunteers will be registering to help with both sessions that day and that month. Please make sure you sign the Liability Waiver and bring it with you the first event day. It can be found on our website, Facebook Page, and at this link. https://surfersforautism.org/forms-and-waivers

Please be prepared for a day at the beach when you come and arrive at least 10 minutes early to get checked in.

Surfers for Autism was founded in 2008 by a handful of South Florida surfers who realized the impact of surfings healing magic on children diagnosed on the autism spectrum. Since that first event, held at Deerfield Beach, Fla., SFA has reached countless participants, families, volunteers, communities, and supporters. With the combined effort, support, understanding, and inspiration of those involved, the magic that comes from loving encouragement and soothing surf was created.

Surfers for Autism has been honored with proclamations by local cities and counties over the years, and the group has been featured in Autism Parenting magazine and in a 2010 Make a Difference segment on the NBC Nightly News.

Today SFA hosts events all over the state and abroad. Nearly every event on our tour maxes out by reaching our limit of 200 registered participants, 350 volunteers and as many as 5,000 supporters packing local beaches to witness the wonder and transformation first-hand.
