Overview

Enjoy a picturesque tour of the St. Johns River and learn the ecology and history of this American Heritage River!

The Volusia County Explore Volusia program invites you to join Environmental Specialist Tommy Nordmann for a two-hour paddle on the St. Johns River to Hickory Bluff Preserve. Participants will learn about the history of the river and what makes it so unique.

**Important note: Please arrive 30 minutes prior to organize gear and complete a waiver. Waivers must be completed in full to participate in the program. You can download and complete a waiver ahead of time by visiting Explore Volusia.

ACTIVITY: A 2-hour moderate paddling trip. Difficulty will depend on wind and currents.

RESERVATIONS: Required. Unless you have a confirmation email, your are not registered.

TICKETS: No printed ticket is necessary.

AGES: Ages 10 and up are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

ATTIRE: Wear appropriate clothing for the outdoors and closed-toe shoes that can get wet.

WHAT TO BRING: Watercraft (kayak, canoe, or SUP), personal flotation device (must be worn while paddling), emergency whistle, water to drink, sunscreen, and bug spray

** Seven, single sit-on-top kayaks (plus gear) are available at no cost. You can reserve one in the "add-ons" section under "tickets." You must have a general admission ticket for each person reserving a kayak. First come, first serve!

FACILITIES: There are bathroom facilities on site.
