Springsteen and the West End Scene

Listen to firsthand accounts from local artisans, business owners, and residents including Paul Whistler, Damien Peduto, and Florie Gray, the “girl on the tandem bike” as they share captivating stories about this community. As Bruce Springsteen crafted his iconic album Born to Run, West End pulsed with energy, its parks and beaches alive with concerts and artistic expression that drew hundreds of visitors. Discover what compelled Springsteen to choose this Long Branch neighborhood—often called the “Mini Greenwich Village”—as a backdrop for his artistry, and explore how its arts scene inspired a young musician finding his voice amid our local creative community.
