Frequently asked questions

Do I need to bring my sewing machine?

No. Unless the meeting is listed as a workshop or sew-in event, bringing your machine is not recommended. Presentations are designed to educate and inspire attendees. Attendees are encouraged to take the information and apply it to their own sewing situations or add to their knowledge.

Can I bring my sewing project for sewing or fitting advice?

Yes! We can cover advice and assistance during the Sew and Tell portion of the meeting! Draw on the collective wisdom of several decades of sewing experience to convert your UFO (UnFinished Outfit) to a wearable garment! Many of our members volunteer at the Pohick Library Maker's Space, too.

Do I have to be a member of the American Sewing Guild?

You can attend up to two meetings to see if ASG membership is a good fit. Membership is $60 per year and offers many benefits. You can learn more about ASG membership at https://www.asg.org
