Frequently asked questions

It says tickets are sold out?

To ensure that all have a chance to reserve a spot, a limited number of tickets are being released every Sunday at 3 PM until the event. The last release will be Sunday, April 20th at 3 PM. After that, you can sign up for the waitlist and will be notified when a spot opens up for you.

Do I have to register for the swap?

Yes. We expect to reach max capacity so it’s great to secure yourself a spot now.

I’ve never been to one of your swaps. What should I expect?

Lots of swapping, socializing and free giveaways!

I’m new to gardening. What if I don’t have anything to swap?

You’re welcome to come empty handed and we are so happy to help get you started! The San Diego Seed Swap booth will provide access to a seed library and other exhibitors are providing giveaways.

Is it okay if I bring my kids?

Absolutely, our swaps are family friendly! All kids over the age of 3 should be registered. There will be family-friendly activities such as crafts, seed starting and a public playground is available nearby.

How many items or seeds should I bring?

We don’t expect that each of you to provide enough items for every individual - that’d be crazy! Bring however much you are comfortable sharing. Usually 5-20 seeds makes sense for pre-packaged packets depending on the variety. Bringing bulk seeds, envelopes and a pen is also an option.

What should I bring to the swap?

Extra produce, seeds, seedlings, handmade goods, extra pots, anything garden related! We'll have tables set up for the community to use and share. It may be a tight squeeze but you're welcome to bring a small square table. Wagons or bags are EXTREMELY helpful for carrying around your loot.

This event is happening during lunch time, will food be provided?

We recommend bringing a picnic lunch. There will be small food samples, while supplies last, prepared by local chefs.

How accessible is the park?

The venue is fully accessible, with public transportation just steps away from the event.

Are dogs allowed?

Feel free to bring your leashed dog! According to the park rules, they must be leashed and under your control at all times throughout the park, including walkways and trails. Be kind and responsible - lease clean up after your pet.

Is there parking?

Lots of parking available! Be mindful that some areas may require $3/hour through the PayByPhone app.

Are there bathrooms?

Public restrooms are available a short walk away near the wooden playground at the East end of the Orange Lot. Portable potties available throughout the Orange Lot.
