Providing Athletic Training Services in First Responder Settings

Anna Sedory’s experience in athletic training spans over two decades equally split between collegiate athletics and law enforcement. Combining this experience with her service at the state, district, and national level in governmental affairs, she will provide insight into a successful transition into tactical athletic training. The presentation will include information on transition to occupational practice, legislative and regulatory issues, and program building.

Compare and contrast tactical athletic training settings with more traditional athletic training settings.
Learn various current AT practice models in existence in police and fire departments across the country.
Articulate the pros and cons of various AT practice models found in tactical environments.
Understand some of the challenges unique to governmental practice environments.
Find and advocate for appropriate legislation and regulation related to practicing outside of athletic settings.
Leave with ideas on establishing appropriate physician oversight
