What is linocut printmaking?

Linocut printmaking is an traditional printing technique using blocks of linoleum or easy-to-carve rubber. The process involves carving a design into the block, removing negative space. Then, we evenly cover the block with ink and transfer it onto a piece of paper.

Yes and no! It might take you a few practice swipes to get used to the process. Smaller details will be difficult and you'll be carving the mirror image of your design. This workshop is designed for people who have never printed before. I will be there to help and you WILL leave with a print :)

Definitely! I have had children come to workshops and do a great job. However, since there are sharp tools involved, I would recommend this workshop only for kids 8 and up.

What do I need to bring?

I'd recommend bringing an idea of what you'd like your print to look like- a reference picture would be great! Other than, just a good attitude!

What will I leave with?

You'll leave with a 4x6 design printed on 5x7 paper. You can also take home your block so you can print more later on!
