SPM Program IV - Sunday - Celebrating Youth
By Symphony Pro Musica
Overview
Ana Gabriela Fernandez joins us for Bernstein's Symphony No 2. Making their debuts are violinists Samuel Lee and Takahiro Higuchi.
Leonard Bernstein’s "The Age of Anxiety," Symphony No. 2, is a piano and orchestra work inspired by W. H. Auden’s poem of the same name. The symphony explores post-war existential themes through jazz, lyricism, and variation, with the piano as a central voice. Premiered in 1949, it remains a vivid portrayal of inner struggle and hope.
SPM also marks the professional debut of violinists Takahiro Higuchi and Samuel Lee, performing Martinu's Concerto for Two Violins.
