ABOUT
We are excited to be offering the Spiral of Transformative Change: A Liberatory Approach to Racial Equity workshop to our Asheville community. Over more than ten years of organizing in community, collaborating with organizations, and mapping our own paths to liberation together, we have been building this body of work around racial equity.
The Spiral of Transformative Change: A Liberatory Approach to Racial Equity is our foundational workshop. This session is designed to invite people to develop an understanding of racial equity work, so that participants can strengthen their community engagement approaches and to deepen their leadership practices to advance racial equity efforts. Specifically, the workshop covers:
- Our Stories, Our History: An exploration of our personal and collective histories tailored to deepen your team’s historical analysis of structural racism.
- Understanding Structural Racism: introduction to shared language and frameworks for understanding structural racism and its impacts.
While the workshop will be offered primarily in English, there may be some bilingual English-Spanish portions. Live simultaneous interpretation will be available to all participants.
COST: We welcome anyone who would like to attend this workshop to register on a sliding scale based on their individual ability.
We are committed to the practice of mutual aid and reciprocity and are mindful of the many ways that the devastation of the hurricane has impacted our community financially. The suggested full registration price for the workshop is $150, but please choose the level that is comfortable for you, including $0.
We also welcome and appreciate additional gifts to the scholarship fund from folks who are able to give more than the suggested $150. Please contact Mira at team@spiralpathconsulting.org if you have any questions about the sliding scale.
Registration includes the full 6-hour workshop, a catered lunch, childcare if needed, and access to our Spiral Path study guide for continuing your learning.
