Event description

Join us for SPICE (Students and Practitioners for Interprofessional Collaboration and Education)!

What is SPICE?

An interprofessional collaborative for health professional students and faculty from Fresno State and California Health Sciences University.

Will there be FOOD?

YES! There will be LUNCH provided for all registered attendees.

Please invite your classmates, faculty and preceptors to join you, and make sure they register so that we can have an accurate headcount for food.

Who is invited to join?

Students, faculty and healthcare practitioners from California Health Sciences University (CHSU) and Fresno State.

Which healthcare professions are involved?

Any healthcare related discipline or major, such pharmacy, nursing, kinesiology, public health, speech language pathology, physical therapy, social work, dietetics and recreation administration.

What will we do?

** This year's theme: "Tackling the Opioid Epidemic" **

This is not a traditional boring journal club where people sit and judge someone's PowerPoint presentation!

We will have interactive discussions so that we can foster real learning from, with and about each other's roles and contributions to the team dynamic of patient care. We will read and evaluate together medical literature and journal articles about topics relevant to the patients we serve in the Central Valley, share experiences and challenges related to caring for underserved people populations, and build interprofessional skills and connections so we can work collaboratively to elevate patient care for people living in the Central Valley.

We will also create and publish together a patient health education newsletter to distribute to local low-income/community health clinics, with the goals of improving health literacy, patient knowledge of local resources, and public awareness of clinical skills and services of various healthcare professions.

Where will the meetings be held?

California Health Sciences University in Clovis, CA.
