SPF Application for Prevention Success Training (SAPST) - April 2026
Overview
This course provides the basic knowledge and skills needed to apply the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) to plan, implement, and evaluate effective, data-driven substance misuse programs and practices. It introduces the foundations of behavioral health and the public health approach to prevention.
The four-day, 37-hour course (including a 6-hour pre-training online session) is designed for people who are new to prevention work, those working in related fields, or members of coalitions working to improve community health. Upon completion, participants receive a certificate they can submit to become a Certified Prevention Professional.
Tickets are limited and are available on a first-come-first serve basis. Registration closes March 30, 2025.
Scholarships: A limited number of scholarships for SAPST registration are available based on need and qualifications. Contact moe@ansrmn.org or 651-646-3005 for more information.
Hotel Accommodations: A block of rooms has been reserved at the Grandview Lodge for $139/night. The room block closes on Friday, February 27th, and any room reservations made after that date must will not be applicable for the reduced rate. Call the hotel at 866-801-2951 and mention the "MN Prevention Resource Center Training" to book a room in the block.
Continuing Education: This program is designated for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) to receive up to 31 total Category I continuing education contact hours. There are no maximum advanced-level continuing education contact hours available for this training.
Cancellation due to low registration or severe weather: In order to deliver this training with fidelity and ensure optimal participation and engagement, we require a minimum number of registrants to hold this training. In the rare event that we don't reach that number of registrants within 2-weeks of the scheduled start date, we may need to cancel the training. In the event of a cancellation due to low registration, we will work with individual attendees to determine whether they want their registration refunded or applied to a future training. Similar considerations may be made for severe weather events or emergencies.
