Special Discover Nature with the iNat App at Edgewood Natural Preserve
Overview
Hey, What Is That? Discover Nature with iNaturalist
Get curious, get nerdy, and get outside! Join us for an introduction to iNaturalist and learn how to turn “Hey, what is that?” moments into personal discoveries.
On Monday, November 24th at 7pm, join ornithologist Gina Genduso on Zoom to explore how this community-powered app helps you spot more, learn more, and share your finds with nature lovers around the world.
On Saturday, November 29th, we’ll hit the trail together and see what we can uncover! No experience needed—just bring your sense of wonder! Bonus: stick around after the walk if you’d like help uploading observations or solving iNat mysteries.
This event is geared toward adults and older children interested in learning how to use the iNaturalist app and upload your nature observations at Edgewood, San Mateo County’s only natural preserve.
Wear sturdy shoes and bring water. Consider sunscreen, a hat, and snacks. Restrooms and water are available only at the Ed Center and the picnic area near the Sylvan Trailhead. Please plan ahead. Note that Edgewood’s many narrow trails cannot accommodate strollers.
We will still meet in light showers, but heavy rain cancels this event.
All participants, including children, must be registered individually and have approved the liability waiver through Eventbrite. Details on the Monday Zoom training session and where to meet for the Saturday hike will be emailed to participants before the event. Be sure to download the free iNaturalist app in advance.
Group size is very limited. Please cancel your reservation if you are unable to attend so others may have a chance to join us.
