An Evening with Ethan Tapper: How to Love a Forest
Thursday, March 19th 2026 5-7PM
Doors open at 4PM to explore Alnoba's grounds and art.

Join us for an intimate evening with Ethan Tapper, Vermont forester, author, and ecological storyteller, as he shares the inspiration behind How to Love a Forest, his journey restoring a troubled woodland, and what it means to nurture forests in a changing world.

Ethan will read excerpts from How to Love a Forest and reflect on the bittersweet work of tending land in crisis. He’ll share stories—some hopeful, some hard—from his experiences at Bear Island, where he’s applied hands-on stewardship to heal a forest once deemed lost. Afterward, there will be a Q&A and time for book-signings and conversation.

Whether you’re curious about forest ecology, land ethics, or human responsibility to the natural world, Ethan’s work bridges science, heart, and action.
