"Sparkles" offers a hilarious glimpse into the experiences of a truly weird millennial as she reflects on every shitty job she has held, from being an elf at Macy's to a dancing hostess to a telemarketer. The great resignation of 2021 has nothing on how many jobs Mel Stephens has quit. Mel uses her self-deprecating and observational humor to reflect on the absurd and mundane situations life presents to you when you're broke, which can drive a person mad.

This is a work-in-progress show.

Melissa Stephens is a comedian, writer, and director. Her acting credits include "The New Girl," "Californication," "Key and Peele," "House of Lies," and "Black Monday." Melissa created shows for Funny or Die, including "Get Up" with Drew Tarver, and is a former alum of The Groundlings' Sunday Company.

More recently, she performed her comedy special "Hot Dog & Tears" at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which was later sold as a pilot to Eone. Additionally, she wrote for the AMC anthology series "Soulmates," created by Brett Goldstein and William Bridges, currently streaming on Amazon Prime.

Melissa's directorial debut, "Peen," received recognition as a Vimeo Staff Pick, and the short series she wrote and directed, "Finding the Asshole," was selected for screening at Slamdance. Currently, she is in development with Twentieth Century Fox and Leslye Headland on a television project, while also writing for multiple TV and film projects.
