Sparking Creativity: Illuminating Stories From Makers of Light

Overview

Experience the art and innovation behind stunning light-based installations—plus a panel and reception!

Special Screening, Panel Discussion & Reception

Join us for an evening celebrating the art and innovation of immersive, light-based installations — and the artists who make them possible.

This special screening features four short documentary episodes from Sparking Creativity: Illuminating Stories From Makers of Light, followed by a panel discussion with the filmmakers and featured artists, and a post-show reception open to all.

Episodes Screening:

Fabled Passage
A steel-and-light portal offers a path through time. Carved silhouettes reveal a story of progress, consequence, and possibility as one artist builds a sculpture that invites stillness, curiosity, and a new vision for the future.

Heron’s Embrace
In a warehouse filled with sparks and noise, a team of artists led by Julia Alora brings a heron to life. Heron’s Embrace is a story about creation through chaos, finding form in uncertainty, and how something extraordinary can take flight when many hands build as one.

Synthetic Meadow
Inside the chaos of creation, two artists battle burnout, tech failures, and tight deadlines to build a reactive dreamscape — a surreal public art installation where movement triggers motion and nature merges with code.

My Burning Pianist
When music meets fire, anything can happen. Notes trigger flames, pressure creates fire, and every performance is an explosion of art and engineering — staged by pianists, clowns, and a team of “stupid makers.”
