Spark! Feed Your Brain: Teacher-led Professional Learning - On Demand

Necessity, as they say, is the mother of invention. Out of necessity, Northside Elementary School revamped their entire model of staff growth and information sharing. They have traded mandatory faculty meetings for OPTIONAL learning opportunities! And the staff love it! Teacher leaders gather data from the entire faculty about their learning needs, plan monthly professional learning opportunities, and share best practices with each other. The new approach has empowered the staff to take on unique leadership roles and freed Principal Haley Beavert to support those most in need.

Learning Intentions:

• Participants will learn about how one school traded mandatory faculty meetings for optional professional learning opportunities.
• Participants will learn about specific strategies for empowering teacher leaders.
• Participants will have an improved ability to apply knowledge to a problem of practice.
• Participants will improve networking for collaborative problem-solving.

Spark! is a virtual community of practice designed with conversation and processing in mind for educational leaders looking to address pertinent school issues and challenges. The free Spark! Sessions are scheduled on the first and third Wednesdays of each month September through May.
