Experienced Firefighter Academy — Certification Completion Weekend

Built for Seasoned Firefighters

This fast-track, hybrid program is designed specifically for experienced firefighters who need to finish certifications. You’ll complete targeted online prep in advance, then knock out all required skills and written testing in one in-person weekend at the MERIT Center.

What You’ll Complete

• Firefighter I & II certification requirements (NFPA 1001)
• HazMat Operations certification requirements (NFPA1001)
• Gap assessment + focused skills remediation (no “rookie school” fluff)
• MFSCB skills sign-offs and written exams on-site
• Practice exams aligned to MFSCB format (required prior to testing)

Hybrid Format & Schedule

Pre-Course (Online, self-paced):

• Assigned reading/modules and required practice exams
• Short knowledge checks to confirm readiness

In-Person at MERIT Center (Single Weekend):

• Friday (Mar 20): 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM → Orientation, gap assessment, ICS/size-up labs
• Saturday (Mar 21): 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM → Live-burn evolutions, ladders/forcible entry, RIT, search, extrication ops, HazMat Ops PPE/decon/product control
• Sunday (Mar 22): 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM → Final skills stations & MFSCB written testing
