The first part of this training session provided an overview of data security fundamentals, frameworks, threats, and regulatory requirements. During PART II, attendees will participate in live in-person exercises to practice their learning.

Gopi Ramamoorthy, CISSP, CISA, CIPP/US, CISM

Over the past 15 years in information security and compliance, Gopi has held roles ranging from engineering to leadership positions in highly regulated sectors like Finance and Healthcare. At Fiserv and Veeva, he managed security and compliance for multiple business units, consistently maintaining an impeccable record of zero findings. He is currently the Head of Security and GRC Engineering at Symmetry Systems.

Gopi's contributions extend beyond his core work. He has spoken at multiple conferences on Cybersecurity and Privacy, including at RSA San Francisco, and is also an active leader in infosec forums. Gopi served as ISC2 Silicon Valley President in 2013 and on the ISACA Silicon Valley Board from 2014-2021. Additionally, he contributed to CSA through multiple working groups.

Building on the introductory virtual training and exercises, attendees for this second session will be given in-person exercises to practice what they learned hands-on. A refresher summary of the virtual content will be provided before the hands-on exercises.

The attendees can work as a group to maximize their learning and understanding of data security threats and protection. Groups will then present their findings to the class for instructor and attendee feedback.

The instructor will continue with a summary of current data security top threats, including a brief note on ransomware detection and protection, data security, AI, and upcoming data protection regulations. The training will conclude with organizational data protection takeaways and Q&A.
