As a part of the South Side Community Art Center’s (SSCAC) Diamond Anniversary we are pleased to announce our 51st Annual Art Auction, to be held Saturday, May 21, 2016. The auction will take place at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) MacLean Ballroom, 112 South Michigan Avenue from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. The auction is a highly anticipated arts event in Chicago, one that provides experienced and novice collectors an opportunity to purchase fine art. Monies raised at the auction enables the SSCAC to continue its mission of preserving, conserving and promoting African American art. Our honorary chairs, Amina Dickerson, Veranda Dickens and Phillip Scott.

This prestigious event will also recognize and honor artists Joyce Owens and Martha Wade for their generous contributions to the continuing legacy of the SSCAC.

Tickets are $75.00 and include a year long membership to SSCAC as well as a dinner buffet and been/wine/soda. LeeAnn Trotter of NBC 5 Chicago will be emceeing the event.

Over its 75-year existence, SSCAC’s role and mission remains relevant and vital. The Center stands as a cultural icon in the city of Chicago and a sustaining symbol of endurance in the community. Dr. Margaret Burroughs was instrumental in the growth of the SSCAC and was among its earliest fundraisers. Plans are underway to rehab our historic structure in a manner that will support Dr. Burroughs vision, and our next 75 years. It is in her memory and spirit of legacy that we ask for your support of this 51th annual event.
