Sound Therapy for Nervous System Regulation & Trauma (In-Person, 2 CEUs)
Overview
Tuning the Nervous System: Clinical Applications of Sound Therapy in Mental Health Practice (2 CEUs)
Facilitated by Lisa R. Schaefer, LISW-S, LICDC-CS, GAMB-p (she/her/hers)
Sound therapy is rapidly emerging as a powerful mind-body intervention supported by neuroscience, polyvagal theory, somatic psychology, and energy-medicine frameworks.
This 2-hour CEU workshop provides clinicians with an integrative understanding of how sound can regulate the nervous system, support trauma processing, and deepen therapeutic presence. Participants will explore the science of vibration, frequency, resonance, entrainment, and the human biofield. We will also examine ethical and culturally aware implementation , and you will learn practical sound-based interventions you can safely incorporate into sessions.
This CEU balances research, clinical application, and experiential practice to equip mental health professionals with grounded, accessible sound-therapy tools.
Learning Objectives (Overall Objectives):
- Describe how sound influences the nervous system, including polyvagal theory and auditory pathways.
- Explore clinical application through science-based interventions, including somatic therapy and EMDR incorporation.
- Discuss ethical and culturally responsive integration, focusing on trauma-sensitive delivery and avoiding appropriation.
- Participate in a mini sound bath and clinical reflection, identifying clinical translations.
This CEU training is held in-person at our office in Copley, OH.
