By Sarasota Performing Arts Foundation

Overview

Experience a Free Evening of Music and Art!

Join us for a FREE concert with Sarasota Performing Arts Foundation Artist in Residence Dr. Lenora Helm Hammonds—professionally known as Lenora Zenzalai Helm—alongside her trio. This special evening pairs world-class jazz with a hands-on visual art activity led by a local artist. Wine and beer will be available for purchase, and all supplies are provided.

Prepare to be inspired by the extraordinary vocal artistry of Lenora Zenzalai Helm, celebrated by Jazziz Magazine as “the voice of her generation.” Lenora is a beacon for creatives and an icon in the world of vocal jazz, and this event offers a rare opportunity to experience her talent up close.

Lenora will be joined by her trio—bassist Mimi Jones, pianist Miki Hayama, and drummer Thomas Taylor—performing original compositions and inventive arrangements from her eight solo albums, as well as works composed and arranged by the trio. Expect an unforgettable evening of live music from some of today’s top jazz performers.

During the concert, audience members are invited to create visual artworks of their own, taking a moment to relax, reflect, and respond to the musicians and their stories.
