Description
Memories are often linked to sound and the many paths we travel. In this workshop, international guest artist Sam Auinger will guide participants in an architectural listening exploration to practice thinking with your ears. Together you'll examine all the audible acoustic effects and different auditory qualities in and around the Hirshhorn building. By reflecting on the process you can create a listening site map of the Smithsonian Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.
Bring with you: paper and pen
Optional to bring: your personal audio recording gear
Ages: 10 yrs and older please
Suggestions: Wear comfortable clothing for walking around outdoors
*Each Perform the Building workshop will be capped at 25 people. Participation will be on a first come, first served basis.
"Perform the Building" is a workshop of Sound Scene: Mapping Memory, an interactive audio art installation, July 7th and 8th, 2018. Produced by the DC Listening Lounge and the Smithsonian Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden with support from the Goethe-Institut Washington and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.
