Sound Journey for Calming the Nervous System (a pre-Thanksgiving Reset)

By Annmarie of ResoundingWell

Overview

Release tension and envision ease with this journey into serenity, using a variety of instruments, poetry and voice.

In a nutshell: Are you walking through your days carrying a load of anxiety, grief, fear, frustration or other individual and collective stressors? Stressing with the anticipation of a family holiday gathering? If you need to "reset" from stress and anxiety and calm your mind, body, heart and spirit, this is for you. Let the vibrations and rhythms of a variety of instruments take you on a meditative journey into deep relaxation.

The focus will be clearing or releasing tension and anxiety and calming the nervous system. Learn a technique you can try at home too. Her expansive collection of high quality instruments include a Monolini monochord, 32" Chiron Gong (the "wounded healer"), crystal singing bowls, handmade Himalayan singing bowls, Ocean drum, Koshi element chimes, Peruvian seed rattle, monsoon rainstick and more. We'll begin with a guided visualization to help you enter into the experience. Original poetry and voice will also be enfused in the session.

About Sound Journeys: Sound journeys bathe or massage our bodies, minds and spirits with healing sounds. This can help our noisy "monkey minds" get quiet as we shift to a Theta brainwave state from our usual Beta and Alpha states. This is where we relax deeply and experience peace and healing on a cellular level. Some people report physical, emotional, mental or spiritual shifts, such as pain relief, improved sleep, sense of clarity, calm, release of tension, feeling revitalized and much more.

What to expect: Come with your intention for wellness and an open mind and heart. Plan to be nurtured and sacred space held for your highest and best.

What is expected: All participants are expected to respect all others in attendance, assume positive intent and to come without the influence of drugs or alcohol. This is a community experience and we support one another with kindness and reverance of each other's experience.

It is possible that you'll be so relaxed that you fall asleep. It is usually not a problem, but if you know you are a snorer, please be prepared to prop your head up, lay on your side or use a chair.

Need to know: Please do not wear any perfumes or cologne to this event, as some may be allergic. Please arrive about 10 minutes before the start time so that you can prepare for the experience, and silence your phone upon entering. Understand that late arrivals will not be admitted once the sound journey has begun, out of respect for the group's experience. If the door is closed, please do not knock and disturb the session.

Be advised that the driveway is easy to miss. If you pass it, you'll immediately come to Impala Dr (just west of the building). Plenty of free parking is behind the building.

The only restroom is down a flight of stairs. This is an historic building.

Please bring: a thick yoga or camping mat, or comfy chaise cushions; a blanket and any pillows or anything else you may want to be comfortable laying down. Sitting upright is another option, so you are welcome to bring a zero gravity chair or other portable chair. I will have some eye masks and leg bolsters for support. Ask me in advance if you need something. I am happy to accommodate.

If you have any medical conditions that may be negatively impacted by sound or vibrations, please consult your health care professional before signing up. Contraindications include pregnancy (first trimester), sound-induced epilepsy, or mental health diagnoses that may be triggered by intense sounds. Let me know if you have recently had surgery or have metal in your body so that proper distance can be kept.

Open to adults and mature teens only.

Sorry, no refunds after 72 hours before the event begins. If you are not able to attend, you may gift your ticket to a friend to enjoy.
