About this Event

Join Sound Opinions co-host and veteran “investigative critic” Jim DeRogatis at the Hideout as he marks the publication by Abrams Press of a book nineteen years in the making. Doors open at 7 p.m. for a reading by the author and a panel discussion with his former Chicago Sun-Times colleagues Mary Mitchell and Abdon Pallasch, as well as special guests. Then, stay for some much-needed musical catharsis and healing starting at 9 p.m. from Some Velvet Evening and VORTIS, which will play its new album on Cavetone Records, This Machine Kills Fascists, in its entirety, in addition to noisy surprises from them, too. Books and vinyl LPs will be on sale all night from Women & Children First, and the $10 cover charge benefits Our Music My Body Chicago.
